Novel Reading Review

After reading Maximum Ride novel, until about chapter 70, I have really loved the story. Initially I am reading the novel, I was hard to understand the whole storyline each chapter because there were much new vocabularies. I have to open and open again my dictionary for figuring out the means of each new word. It was very difficult. I need a lot of time to finish and to understand the novel in my first week reading. I wrote down the means of every new word in every page I read. My novel was filled with my vocabulary list. It seemed messy. When I was in the reading class, my Professor, Prof. Chrisman told us that don’t ever try to figure out each word we read, but just tried to grasp the means of paragraph as the best we can. I do like what she suggested for us, and it is work better. Maximum ride has good storyline that can attract the reader to read more and more. The novel tells about Max and her mutant-family who is trying to rescue Angel from school lab and terrible experiment. So far, I like Fang, the second oldest child after Max. He is calm, brilliant, smart, and reliable.

Fang is described as one who doesn’t like to talk much. He doesn’t say a lot. He is also very calm and not easily nervous when several times he has to fight with his enemy. He still thinks clearly and calmly although he faces hazardous conditions. When Fang and his mutant-family failed save Angel from Eraser, he gives advice to his group to find Angel in school and brings them the map and some documents from Jeb’s room. He has brilliant idea that can help his group to solve the problem. He helps his group to find the best way to solve the problem, although he didn’t like speech much. When he and Nudge wait Max in the cave near cliff of Mead Lake, he learns about better flying technique from hawks that lived around there. He imitates the hawks, and then practices it with his own wings. He tells Nudge, his young sister, the better flying method from the hawks and then persuades Nudge to practice together. Finally, they can use their wings better then before. Beside that, Fang could take Max’s responsibility as the group leader while Max was in the trouble. His decision to go back seek Max is precious. He thinks that Max get in trouble because she didn’t appear for couple times in the place they have been agreed. From the stories, it is imply that Max relies heavily to Fang as the second leader of their family. He can escape when Erasers will try to catch him with Nudge. He is strong and has great power to defeat the Erasers.

I really like Fang because he is calm, brilliant, smart, and reliable. Max rely and trust Fang as the second oldest in the family. Fang could support Max when she has to make decision soon. I like him.
